We need to talk about the breakout star of 2018.

Sunny Suljic in his first leading role as Sunny in Jonah Hill's directorial debut Mid 90's

The first time I saw Sunny was during Yorgos Lanthimos's "A killing of a sacred deer" as the son of Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman. A year later, I would encounter his work again in the highly anticipated Playstation 4 exclusive game God of War as Atreus. After playing 25 plus hours the credits started to roll and the name of the actor who motion captured and voice acted Atreus pops up: Sunny Suljic.

During summer, I saw him twice again. Once as a skateboarder in Don't Worry He Won't Get Far on Foot and again as Tarby Corrigan in A House with a Clock in Its Walls. In Gus Van Sant's "Don't Worry he won't get far on foot", he caught the eye of co-star Jonah Hill. Jonah at the time directed 2 music videos: one for Sara Bareilles Gonna Get Over You and one of my favorite Detroit rappers Danny Brown's Ain't it Funny.

Have you seen Mid 90's? No let me rephrase that: Have you seen my personal favorite film of the year 2018? If not, go check out this film. Jonah Hill and everyone who worked on this film, knocked it out of the (pun intended) skate park. The music for the film hits me right in my music taste G-Spot such as: A Tribe Called Quest, Pharcyde, Souls of Mischief, Big L, and Wu Tang Clan. The cinematography with it's retro 4:3 ratio. Now let's talk about the acting: Sunny and both of his families: blood and skate family are so great. Especially the skateboarding family consisting of mostly amateur first time actors. This 13 year old kid has starred in my favorite video game of the year and my favorite movie of the year.
